I’m Michael Fels, the proud owner of Michael Fels Beauty | Hair & Makeup.

I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.

I’ve been an artist my whole life, thirty-two years to be exact. However, to pay the bills, I took up various jobs. It included a three and a half year stint working in the office of an online vitamin shop doing sales, marketing, customer service, packing orders, and any other odd duty that came my way.

My soul just wasn’t in it, and I was itching to quit the day job and return to my ideal career path of drawing and painting.

As luck would have it, I ran into some friends who were studying body painting at makeup school and thought it was just the coolest thing. So I decided to go to makeup school, and to my surprise, I ended up falling in love with beauty makeup. I also got to learn hairstyling.

Once I completed my course in 2014, I started doing hair and makeup professionally. At the time, I was up for any opportunity that came my way, especially if it encouraged me to use my creative acumen.

Five years on, I’ve grown and built a team of talented artists. While we all have our unique strengths, our focus is on beauty hair and makeup primarily for special events, weddings, and photoshoots.

I live by the principle that the more fun we have, the more joy our clients have, and that will ripple out into every person they meet. I’m also passionate about female empowerment, as I’ve come across many female clients who apologize for the way they look, which breaks my heart.

As a male working in this industry, I’m aware that the high standards set for women’s beauty are hugely damaging. Unfortunately, it’s part of the fabric of society, but I’m trying to change that from the inside out.

My philosophy is to make women feel beautiful and to take the stress out of getting ready. Sometimes it’s just about making my clients look fabulous, but more often, it’s about the magical times we spend together.

As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is that I want to bring happiness to my clients, while also providing honest feedback. In a world of surface interactions and curated social media feeds, I value the realness of another human, and their willingness to allow us so close to their personal space.

I also attribute my success to listening to my clients as I love to hear their stories and witness the way clients change throughout their appointment, which culminates in the very different way they carry themselves on their way out. Their newfound confidence fills me with immense satisfaction.

When I am not beautifying my clients, I love drawing and painting, which is why I took to makeup artistry like a duck to water. I’m also glad that I’ve able to use my talent in creative hair and makeup and channel it back into making art on canvas. You can find my artwork at www.mikeymakeyart.com.
